The goal of the CULS licensing policy is economic utilization of the intellectual potential of CULS employees, increasing the national and international prestige of CULS, increasing their incomes and supporting technological development in the Czech Republic. This should be aided by support of the development and protection of so-called industrial property, i.e. a solution at the level of inventions and patents, utility models, industrial designs or trademarks.
The Licensing Fund (hereinafter “LF”) can be used as an additional source of financing for intellectual property protection if financing is not possible from other resources of faculties or the institute, or if financing from the LF is a priority concern for CULS. LF funds are exclusively determined for supporting the implementation of the results of intellectual property, in particular for allowing the filing of protection of intellectual property rights. A condition for allocation LF funds is at least 40% co-financing by a faculty/department.
LF funds are distributed by the Licensing Board on the basis of the assessment of submitted applications exclusively to CULS employees. Application forms and deadlines for submission can be found at www.citt.czu.cz in the section: Licensing Fund.
A request for a grant from the LF is approved by the relevant dean (or director) according to the worksite of the employee who is requesting the grant from the LF. The indicative amount of the LF in a calendar year is set for each year by the CULS Bursar.
