„Czech-Israeli University Conference“ - cooperation in Education, Science, and Technology Transfer

On June 19, 2024, we participated in the significant “Czech-Israeli University Conference” focused on enhancing cooperation between Czech and Israeli universities in education, science, and technology transfer. This event brought together leading academics, scientists, and experts from both countries to discuss the possibilities of joint projects, exchange programs, and innovations.

Conference Program:

The conference began with participant registration from 8:30 to 10:00, followed by an official opening and introductory speeches from distinguished personalities, including:

  • Karel Havlíček, Deputy Speaker of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic
  • Anna Azari, Ambassador of the State of Israel to the Czech Republic
  • Marek Ženíšek, Minister for Science, Research and Innovation
  • Karel Rais, Vice-chairperson of the Committee on Science, Education, Culture, Youth, and Sport of the Parliament of the Czech Republic
  • Ondřej Bočkay, CEO of the Czech-Israeli Mutual Chamber of Commerce
  • Albert Pinhasov, Rector of Ariel University, Israel
  • Orly Weinstein, CEO of Clalit, Czech-Israeli Medical & Medical Education Cooperation
  • Idit Silman, Minister of Environmental Protection, Israel
  • Eli Lankri, Mayor of Eilat and Representative of Eilat International Medical School
  • Vojtěch Petráček, Rector of the Czech Technical University in Prague
  • Milena Králíčková, Rector of Charles University
  • Ladislav Janíček, Rector of Brno University of Technology
  • Miroslav Lavička, Rector of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen

 

Lecture Blocks

First Block of Lectures (Education) from 11:45 to 12:45, featured speakers included:

  • Albert Pinhasov discussing navigating academic identity amidst challenges and the Israel-Czech partnership.
  • Moti Zwilling on risk and cyber security in education systems.
  • Eitan Brizman focused on the current education of Israeli students at Charles University.
  • Pavel Maxera and Eva Voslářová presented the collaboration between Ariel University and Brno University of Technology and the education of Israeli students at the University of Veterinary Sciences Brno.
  • Martin Bareš and Jan Kuklík discussed cooperation between Masaryk University, Charles University, and Israeli partners.
  • A specific collaboration between Mendel University and Oranim College, and a joint study program in archaeology between the University of Ústí nad Labem and Israeli institutions were also highlighted.

Second Block of Lectures (Research) from 13:30 to 14:30, included presentations by:

  • Itzhaq Shai on promoting research collaboration between Czech and Israeli academic institutions.
  • Filip Čapek and Kamil Malinka on scientific cooperation in archaeology and information technologies.
  • Sandra Lacinová, Zbyněk Tarant, and Hana Brůhová Foltýnová addressed topics related to sustainable urban mobility, digitization, and historical data analysis.

Third Block of Lectures (Firms Collaboration) from 14:45 to 15:45, featured:

  • Pavel Banáš on research collaboration between CATRIN, Palacký University Olomouc, and Bar-Ilan University.
  • Aleš Doucek and Palaniappan Subramanian on collaboration in R&D of innovative fuel cells.
  • Tomáš Jelínek discussed the establishment of the Czech-Israeli Innovation Center at Moravian Business College Olomouc.

 

Conclusion:

The “Czech-Israeli University Conference” fostered inspirational discussions and new opportunities for cooperation between Czech and Israeli universities. Through the sharing of experiences and establishing new connections, the conference is expected to strengthen existing partnerships and initiate new projects that will contribute to the development of education, science, and innovation in both countries.
