The Czech-Israeli Technology Day 2024 in Dolní Břežany

On Thursday, May 23, 2024 we attended the Czech-Israeli Technology Day 2024 conference in Dolní Břežany. The event took place at the ELI Beamlines scientific center, which focuses on research and application of laser technologies. The conference attracted a wide range of experts, scientists, entrepreneurs, and innovators from the Czech Republic and Israel. This prestigious event aimed to strengthen cooperation between the two countries in the fields of modern technologies, innovations, and technology transfer.

In the opening speach, Israeli Ambassador H.E. Anna Azari emphasized the importance of international collaboration in technology and innovation, as well as the cooperation between the private and public sectors of our two countries.

The first block of lectures then began. Andrej Chrzanowski, General Manager of Brain4Industry, presented the possibilities of additive manufacturing in the defense industry. Omer Frank from ELBIT Systems introduced the applications of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) in both the commercial and public sectors. The morning block concluded with Erik Feldman from VDT Technology, who focused on detection and elimination systems for drone group deactivation.

After a short break the next set of lectures followed. Niko Adamsky from Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) presented new satellite sensing technologies. Tomáš Mocek from HiLASE Centre and Jindřich Houžvička from Crytur discussed the use of lasers for communication and data transfer in space projects. Ehud Nir from RAFAEL Advanced Defense Systems introduced high-power laser defense systems. The morning session concluded with Tomáš Těthal, CEO of IQ Structures, who presented the IQnano3D nanoprinter and its applications in research and industry.

In the afternoon, another block of lectures followed. Sagi Mizrahi from Bagira covered modern trends and technologies in armed forces training. Roman Zima, founder of Respilon, presented StealthTex military suits against thermal vision. Petra Gottwald from Walk on Water Ltd. and Milan Jakubek from BIOCEV introduced the revolutionary nanotechnology Foga, which serves as a fire extinguishing blanket and heat shield for non-professional firefighters.

The afternoon session ended with networking followed by excursions to the research centers ELI Beamlines, HiLASE and the Brain4Industry Innovation Centre.

The Czech-Israeli Technology Day 2024 was an exceptional opportunity for experts and innovators from both countries to share diverse insights on cutting-edge technologies. The program was rich with inspiring lectures and practical demonstrations, highlighting the importance of this conference for technological advancement and international cooperation. By participating in this event, we gained not only new knowledge and inspiration but also valuable contacts and opportunities for future collaboration. This can be very beneficial for the future activities of the Czech University of Life Sciences, exemplified by the initiation of discussions regarding potential cooperation with the PragueBio association, which was founded by significant Czech institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences, the University of Chemistry and Technology Prague, and i&i Prague, with Zentiva joining in March. During the conference we initiated talks about the possible membership of CZU in the association.
